Standard Life Fixed Period Ending...

  • I have just spoken to them myself, they dont seem to know anymore than we do. She just said that the terms and conditions were staying the same and there were no other rates available.

Not even had a letter from Barclays explaining anything, lets hope they offer us some rates with the Woolwich fairly quickly.
  • Just another post to confirm that i was told they arent offering any products. The chap i spoke to said they may but they just dont know as Barclays only took them over officially from start Jan. i havent looked around too much yet but Barclays SVR (or Barclays Bank Base Rate)seems way lower at 0.5% making their interest rates around 3% ish.
I am hoping that we can all have a pain free offer of mortgage products from Barclays/Woolwich. And soon.
  • I too am on a SL SVR mortgage. I posted this before after looking into it, Woolwich/Barclays do have an SVR rate (not the 0.5% one) which is 4.99%. It was used years ago before they changed all new mortages to revert to a tracker of Woolwich Base Rate (currently the same as BoE of 0.5%) + a fixed percentage.

In late December (coincidence?), they changed the terms of their old SVR to be BoE base rate + 4.49%! So still currently 4.99% but now with the guarentee that it will go up with the Bank of England increases. While this is better than Standard Lifes rate, i'm not sure i'd want to be on Woolwich SVR which is now effectively a tracker rate of +4.49%. A huge margin.

Saying that, presumably the new owners of SL would do the same anyway? Its very confusing...
  • You are right it is confusing! I looked at Barclays today and they still have a tracker at 0.5%+2.5%ish, depending on your LTV. I'm waiting for a letter to see what Standard Life say when it comes in the next week or so. In the meantime i'm looking around for whatever i can find!

Anyone got any updates as to when we are likely to see some competitive rates in the shape of the Woolwich

We were with Standard Life, our fixed rate ended in January, we contacted them regularly but no news on any products. So on recommendation of this website we contacted London & Country brokers who dealt with our application very efficiently, we remortgaged on to a very good rate with a building society.
