Help Re: Taking Car Off The Road

DP has bought a bike and is taking his car off the road rather than tax/MOT/insure his car as all three are due within the next two months.

I have the tax disc here, if I do soemthing about it tomorrow then we won't have used the whole of July and Augusts tax. It expires 31/08/06. I can complete the SORN online but can I claim back those two months tax? If so how do I do it? Can I do it online or what?

I wasn't sure where to post this thread but it kind of relates to being debt free:p

Call the DVLA and explain it - they'll tell you if you can reclaim it. When my car was rather helpfully set on fire, I had over 5 months remaining. I had to go into a DVLA office and fill out a form, but they refunded the months that haven't been used.

Actually I am 99% sure you can get the last 2 months refunded - you'll just need to send it in with the form. But make sure you fill out that form tomorrow!

you can get a refund but they will only refund for full months and not say a month and a half etc
