I need a Freeview + box and dvd player9cheap!) any help pls?

Hi all
Firstly my freeview box is gradually going on the blink, so i'd like to replace it with one that can record, but doesn't cost the earth as i don't have loads to spend.
I also need a cheapy dvd player for my teen daughter's room- I've seen cheap ones at tesco/Argos etc, but wondered if they're any good?
Is there a proper thread somewhere for these items? i'm sure i saw a 'best freeview' sorta thread a while back but can't find it!
