CM/CB/College from Newbie

HI Im new to this site but very useful in lots of areas, anyhow what i would like to ask is following
I pay CM on old system, have done for 15 years without a break, my Daughter is 17 this year, she started college last year but has decided it isnt for her until next year and has not and does not intend going back until possibly this sept(2010) whereby she will re enrol elsewhere on differant course as wants to get into work. Would she have to inform college that she has no intention of going back now.
First would the PWC have to let benefits know this circumstance (and without sounding harsh - this person is not the type to tell them) as they would know CB would possibly reduce/stop, and secondley CM may cease for a while. I wouldnt get to know this as we dont really speak as such about such matters (not my doing its just how it is)
Secondly, if CB are informed would the CSA become involved or would that be down to myself to contact, as I pay through them monthly.
Thanks in advance of any advise or comments - I would still contribute as I always have in any circumstance so positive comments please

You have to do all the work I'm afraid, don't depend on the CSA/CB or the PWC

From HMRC website:
You can still get Child Benefit after your child turns 16 if they're in relevant education or training. We'll usually keep on paying it until they reach 20 as long as they were enrolled or accepted onto the course before their 19th birthday. If your child leaves relevant education or training before they're 20, Child Benefit payments usually stop.
If your child leaves relevant education or training
If your child is under 18 and leaves education or training and registers for work or training or education with a relevant body, you can usually get Child Benefit extended for up to 20 weeks.
If there is a break to your child's education or training
You must tell us if there is a break to your child's education or training so that we can work out whether you can still get Child Benefit. We can usually carry on paying Child Benefit for up to six months if there is a good reason for the break, for example:- your child is ill
- the college is temporarily closed
- your child is moving from one college to another
- if someone is ill or has died that is close to your child
- your child is pregnant
If your child doesn't go back into relevant education or training then you may have to pay back some of the Child Benefit you got during the break. The amount will depend on when your child decided not to go back.
Your child goes back into relevant education or training
We can pay Child Benefit if your child takes up relevant education or training again, for example after a period of unemployment. If your Child Benefit had previously stopped because you no longer qualified for it, you can make another claim. Your child would need to have been accepted or enrolled onto the course before their 19th birthday for you to qualify.

So if my Daughter has stated she has Left college with no intention of return but her Mother does not say anything to the CB section, would she still get it or do i have to go down the route of letting them know which isnt really what I want to do but I know it wouldnt come from the PWC0

The longer she claims CB, the longer your child support carries on, it may not be ideal but if she has no intention of returning to education then you need to confirm this with the CSA/CB depts. So if my Daughter has stated she has Left college with no intention of return but her Mother does not say anything to the CB section, would she still get it or do i have to go down the route of letting them know which isnt really what I want to do but I know it wouldnt come from the PWC*SIGH*

Ok last one, my Daughter has mentioned that she may start at another college on a totally different course next september, Is it worth informing the CSA etc as past experiences with them have been very bad and to be honest I hate the thought of even ringing them as they almost toppled me a few years back and I dont wanna go through all that again, thanks0

Just a query, but what happens if 18 year old child starts an approved training course, but claims job seekers allowance, therefore no child benefit paid, is CS still payable? Just a query as JS rate is higher than CB so if this is claimed, how do CSA view this, as surely if child in qualifying education, will it matter that CB not paid to PWC, but instead a slightly higher payment made direct to child.
Any advice appreciated0 -
No it won't be payable as she is claiming benefits in her own right and therefore no CS is payable either.0
