Hi yes you can put soya mince in with "real" mince it makes it go further and as long as your family dont see the packet then they should be none the wiser.
I make a thai soup and put the prawns and noodles into that which makes a lovely filling meal and at very little cost. I never find whoopsies like that so am very jealous as i love prawns and always have to pay full price for them so good on you for finding them.

    Hi tara,

judgejaq on the daily fashion thread gets the credit for drawing our attention to this very yummy Thai-style soup at the bottom of this article

It would be even nicer with prawns, just pop them in at the end, they hardly need any cooking time. I didn't fancy the shredded cabbage in it and used sliced mange-tout instead, but you can play about with the recipe if you haven't got all the ingredients! The recipe uses rice noodles, but if you haven't got any, you could just use some rice.

I would save your egg noodles for another meal, maybe a mixed veg chow mein?
  • How about a nice prawn curry or sweet chilli prawns and noodles (my fave)
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I made some chilli prawn spaghetti recently maybe you could make that and replace the spaghetti with the noodles...

Cook spaghetti, while that is on slowly fry some onion and some garlic, add prawns, sprinkle with chilli flakes and season. When the spaghetti is cooked add to saucepan and mix together. Simple but tasty.

Thanks so much for the ideas!!!!!

Bronnie, as the noodles can't be frozen I will have to use them up but might make the Thai soup you linked to and bung the noodles in. :)

edit: Just looked at the soup recipe, it has a lot of ingredients I don't have atm, am trying to think of something super cheap! Maybe I could make it without the coconut milk (like a tom yum) and vary the veg according to what's left in Tesco on my way home lol.

Or I might be boring and get a stir fry veg pack from Tesco (the large one is reduced to £1 atm) and flavour it with oyster sauce, fish sauce etc.

shanks77, thanks for the soya mince info! :D
