boots free eye tests- but the staff don't know!

Thanks for the great advice Martin. I find your site rather cluttered so I may be posting this feedback in the wrong area
Went for the free eye test option (for Boots Health Club subscribers) and found the staff at Cheltenham Boots tried to charge me £18 for the test. Most embarrassing. They tried to sell me another 'extra' test for £10 and also some frames- no hassle though and for a free eye test I'm really not bothered.
trying to unsubscribe afterwards was less satisafctory- you have to call an 0845 number (why- when to subscribe you can do it all online?). the number and the online options for stopping the service / getting off the email list are both likely to simply not work. Great idea to take advantage of it (didn't we used to have a National Health service for the basics like this?) but be aware you may find it hard to leave them:mad:

Hi and welcome to the forums. The free eye test (for me) was a voucher they sent with the mailings and if you present it to them shouldn't be a problem. and you can unsubscribe to the emails by clicking a link at the bottom of the emails they send you.
Hope this helps.0 -
In Scotland everyone is entitled to free eye site test - not sure about England though - this has been since April.Sarah x0

Staff in the Milton Keynes branch were handing out leaflets about the free eye tests and giving out free lens cloths (I got 2! Brilliant freebie) last week.0
