Cheap MP3 player for the car - £35

Options
Just bought a MP3 player (256mb) off Ebay - for £10 plus P&P/insur £23 all in. Amazed by its quality - can hold roughly 60 songs or 4 hours of music. Had a CD cassette adaptor for the car (£5-£10) lying around - plug this into the car and an MP3 player for the car at less than £35 - or in my case £23 !

  • Apple have just released their latest low budget MP3 player the iPod shuffle. Comes in 512MB and 1GB versions and can hold both MP3's and files. £69.00 for the 512MB : 120 songs and £99.01 for the 1GB : 240 songs. Well done Apple looks sweet and cheap enough to compete with any of its rivals.  :o Take a look for yourselves. http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/90801/wo/VS4ux8gCOCiq2g1NywoOvWM1yxv/0.0.11.1.0.6.21.1.4.1.0.0.0.1.0
  • Think I'll stick with my HK item - get a screen/ ability to play both MP3 and WMA and voice recording and will cost half of the price of the Ipod - just not as fashionable.  :D
Also - Apple consistently see the dollar appreciating against the pound - $99 & $149 in the states translate to £69 and £99 here - an exchange rate of 1.43 and 1.50 against the real 1.88. Profiteering - never. ::)

Your link is dead - you can see it here.

Lack of a screen is a MAJOR negative IMHO...  :-/

sounds interesting, i would really like to know how to get this to work , as an MP3 player in the car would be great. I recently also bought a portable mp3 player off ebay from some seller in HongKong. is this the kind of mp3 player you refer to? and also what cassette adaptor would i need?
You Can, If You Think You Can!
  • Any MP3 player can be used in the car using one of the cassette adaptors that are readily available on e bay for around a fiver.

you plug it into the ciggie lighter then the other end goes into the MP3 players headphones socket

then tune your radio into 107.7 FM

then you can hear your player in your car

Have you got an AUX socket on the front of your cd player ? If so you would just need a jack plug lead.

I've got two of these cassette adapters, one Panasonic, one Goodmans. They work for half an hour, give or take a minute, and then the cassette gets ejected as if on cue. No matter what I then do it keeps ejecting it. I have to leave it for weeks before it'll allow another 30 minutes , and then the same thing happens!
It's weird and drives me nuts. It's been going on for over 18 months!
    Anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas how to solve it?

They are actually illegal to use too, and I thin kyou can get points on your licence and/or a big fine for using them. I think it's because they interfere with emergency services radio but I could be wrong.
