Cheapest place to buy a bed mattress.

I'm in the market for a new bed mattress, and I was wondering if people could recommend cheap places I could purchase them from. Iv visited the usual retail giants in person, but I can't help they are adding a heavy premium.

We have an industrial estate which sells beds and mattresses very cheap and all are branded. We found it by accident when we got lost one afternoon lol! Maybe worth having a look around your local industrial estates x

The best/cheapest place to buy a mattress is on line.

I know you are probably thinking that you want to try it out first. However if you buy from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee (one that lets you unpack and sleep on the mattress for a few nights (check their terms and conditions)), then it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time, otherwise it will cost them to replace the mattress. So you should talk to them first.

Stay well away from big brands, and big retailers and you will get far better quality for less money.

Personally I would go for open coil sprung with memory foam as reflex foam can be very sweaty. Open coil springs should also last longer.

Also find out what the density of the memory foam is. 60 to 70kg per m3 is the optimum.

  • OOhh - am looking at the TJs lift up bed with sleep assured memory foam mattress with coolmax cover - it looks like a bargain - (and somewhere to [STRIKE]hide[/STRIKE] put my shoe collection - does this look ok or should I be asking more questions about the mattress? (Hubby has inspected the gas lift mechanism and that seems fine)

If you are going to buy that bed, then I wouldn't get the mattress with it. When they sell them as a set they are usually very low quality mattresses.
