chocolate cheesecake recipe?

does anyone have a foolproof recipe for chocolate cheesecake? I haven't made a cheesecake in years and I've never made a choccy one but a friend has asked I make one for a kids party at the weekend.

I looked on the recipe index but the only cheesecake recipe was a Baileys one - maybe not so good for the under 5's!

    Here's one:

    All-chocolate cheesecake:

    8oz digestive biscuits
40z melted margarine (I use butter)
    5-7oz plain chocolate
1lb cream/curd cheese (philly works well)
    5oz caster sugar
    1 tsp vanilla essence
    2 eggs

Generously brush the inside of the tin with melted butter and chill it. Work the digestive biscuits to fine crumbs in the food processor (or crush with a rolling pin). Transfer to a bowl. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add to the crumbs. Stir until all the crumbs are moistened with melted butter. Press mixture over the bottom and up the side of the prepared tin. Chill until firm, 30-60 mins.

Heat oven to 180 degrees C (350 degrees F, Gas 4. Cut the chocolate into chunks. Chop them with a knife or in food processor. Melt the chocolate and allow to cool. Beat cream cheese until smooth with electric mixer, 2-3 mins. Add sugar and vanilla essence and beat just until smooth. Add eggs one by one, beating well after each addition. Mix cooled melted chocolate into mixture. Pour into prepared base and bake until side is set but centre remains soft, 50-60 mins. Turn off oven and leave cheesecake in the cooling down oven until completely cool. Refrigerate at least four hours. Can be made up to 3 days in advance.

The only thing with this one is, it's very rich, but I suppose you could try it with milk chocolate. HTH.

    Hi phizzimum,

There are some tried and tested chocolate cheesecake recipes on the main cheesecake thread that may help:

    Help! Cheesecake Recipe?

I'll add this thread to that one later to keep the recipes together.
