Transferring loan onto credit card - Abbey

Good afternoon
I've called Abbey today about transferring my Egg loan onto my 0% Abbey credit card. They said they can't do this - the only way I could do it would be to transfer cash from the card into my bank account (at 2%) and then pay the loan off from my bank account. But I forgot to ask them about cheques. Every so often Abbey send me a bunch of cheques that I can use and the money comes off the card. They usually go straight in the shredder, but could I use one of these to pay the loan off and dodge the 2% cash fee? I can't find on any paperwork the rate for using cheques, and to be honest, it took me so long to get the guy in the Abbey Call Centre to understand what I wanted to do I'm a bit reluctant to phone them again. I can't find anything on the Abbey website either.
Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance

"Other charges:
2% handling fee (min. £3.00) on: credit card cheques and balance transfers"

There's an article about paying loan off with a credit card by using one of the super balance transfer cards.

This is the article about general card shuffling.
