Hi Raini
Your thread title got me curious so thought I'd pop in. Good luck with your goals and finding a job.
Have you asked for an NHS consultation for your braces? My OH needed braces and the dentist told him he'd refer him to the hospital for assessment to see if the NHS would fund it but that he thought we'd probably have to pay.
Apparently, they assess the work that needs doing on a scale of 1-5 1 being cosmetic and 5 being serious. In our area they would only fund people assessed as being 4 or 5 and OH came out at a 4 so he got his braces and work done for free :T
He still had to go to the regular dentist for checkups etc though.0 -

No, totally dependant on the severity of what needs fixing.
OH had two baby teeth that had never fallen out because his adult teeth were growing horizontally. The dentist took them out but was unable to fit a permanent bridge because he also had an overbite.
He got approved to have the braces to correct the overbite and they gave him a plate with a couple of false teeth on to fill the gap left by the baby teeth at the end of his treatment - all free on the NHS.
He had to go to the hospital for the fittings and check ups rather than his dentist.
Dentists are often reluctant to refer because it means they don't get the cash if you get approved for treatment.0 -
