Barclays have started with the phone calls

they sent yet another letter saying my account was closed from 27.7.06 (i had untill 7th july to pay the overdraft which got cleared by tax credits and child benefit going in on the 27th)

anyway ive been out all morning gets home and i have had 4 phone calls and a answerphone message saying they need to speak to me:mad: i put a block on with held numbers ringing my phone yet there number is comeing up as unavailable(how are they managing this??) i guess they must be ringing about the loan money outstanding on my account(around 90000) but surely they know they should be going through payplan, i just dont need the hassel of them trying to get more or any extra money which i just dont have (this is the only reason i can see they have to ring me) if i had the money i would give it to them why can they never see things like this.

im sat here dreading the phone ringing i feel like answering it but i will end up giveing them such a mouthfull and i dont want to get there backs up anymore, im frightened they are going to try to take me to court to recover the money i just cannot deal with threats right now, or do i ignore the phone and hope they go away

sorry it seems im having another whine as soon as i feel its getting better somebody else starts ringing etc

Can you just unplug the phone or put it on silent?

I know its hard to ignore the phone when it rings, the only thing I can suggest is to screen all calls - maybe if you can turn the ringer on the phone off for a few days & check your call minder every now & then incase any real people have rung you?

i dont mind the post man letters can go i the bin if its the same thing time and time again, the letters have also clamed down alot from what we were having.

it seems our biggest problem now is barclays and barclay card the rest have accepted we have gone with payplan and are trying to sort it

we did have one exception which is a forces cc company they went for an attachment of earnings so they get 300 a month! luckly for us payplan are takeing that off what they were going to have each month for creditors (360.00 a month for them all) we now pay 60.00 to payplan for everyone else and in march when the attachment finishes we go back to the 360 to payplan if this makes sense

Poor you...Could you ring BT/whoever your phone is with and ask to have all withheld/unavailable numbers blocked? is this what you've already done? In which case ring them and tell them it's not working.

I can imagine how stressful this must be especially when you're so near giving birth! Good luck for the next few weeks...

How long will the forces CC be taking the £300? I hope that pays it off quickly. You must be feeling better now Payplan are on the case...Have you told them about Barclays harrassing you?

Perhaps a different method of dealing with Barclays would work better. Don't get involved in any conversation, just politely advise them something along the lines of:
"Payplan are dealing with this situation, please contact them on telephone number 1111111 for any concerns you may have."
Repeat ad nauseum until they go away, don't get involved in conversation and repeat the process each time they call. Your not being rude, just pointing them in the right direction.

    My parents still havent got a phone block put on for the nuicance sales calls. They take turns to answer the phone and say;

"I am very sorry, Mr and Mrs ***** are away until further notice, we are the decorators"

having both recently retired imagine my surprise to see them giggling behind the sofa yesterday whe Jehovas were at the door:rolleyes: seems to keep them both entertained on rainy days.

Not sure if I missed this, but I know I told all my credit people to strike my phone number of their records as OH was like the OP, he couldnt cope either we are currently in the process of having a major company done under data protection for not obeying this one, and have already had them done for harrassment in the past, it does work.

Chin up, and dont let them get to you - chances are its just someone who enjoys bullying and getting paid for it as their job.

All the best for your iminant arrival.

Hiya, send the following letter recorded delivery :-
    By Recorded Delivery

    Dear Sir,

    Ref. XXXXX

Despite my letters regarding ANY communication from your company, which stated that I require ALL communications in writing, your telephone calls continue.

This behaviour constitutes harassment; the letters stated quite clearly to you that I require ALL communications in writing for future Court use. Do not telephone me again - remove any telephone numbers you hold for me from your systems.

Your telephone calls are in breach of the Office of Fair Trading guidelines. If you continue with them after the receipt of this letter an official complaint, together with a log recording the times and frequency of the calls will be passed both to that office and to the Trading Standards office. For your information note that ALL telephone calls are taped.

This type of debt collection method is contrary to the ‘Administration of Justice Act 1970’ in that it is intended to cause alarm and distress to the recipient. Your methods will not be tolerated. A formal complaint, containing copies of all correspondence including yours, has now been submitted to the relevant authorities. This will be relevant to questions of your fitness to hold a licence under the Consumer Credit Act, whether or not it results in a prosecution.

Take further note that continued telephone calls after the receipt of a request not to call may constitute a criminal offence under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.

Communicate in writing and ONLY in writing, your telephone calls will NOT be answered.

HOWEVER, CALLS WILL TRIGGER COMPLAINTS TO THE REGULATORY BODIES.

I trust that I have made myself understood on this matter,

    Yours faithfully,

If you haven't yet sent them a letter asking for it to be in writing, just amend the 1st paragraph. I can help with this if you need me to.

    Cheers
