Please do not phone creditors. As a rule they will use this opportunity to terrify you with threats of dire legal consequences that are impossible, improbable or unlikely and to demand immediate payment of sums you do not have. This is why we always advise people to write to their creditors.
You need to sort out your new bank account. Cancel any DDs then write and tell them what is happening. Quote your CCCS number.
This also means that you have a paper trail if anything does go to court and can prove that you are making reasonable attempts to deal with your debt.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
At the min I have been able to pay bills on time except one but I did pay as soon as I had the money. I have gone over drawn twice this month and I don't have an overdraft, it was only for 1 day each time but I guess they still will charge me the £25 a time grrrrrrr
What is the best bank to go with? again will they give me a switch card? What do I tell them bout the dabt plan, will they understand?Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!

A basic account has no overdraft and therefore no credit check. http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk...k_accounts.pdf
This explains what sort of card you would get with each account.

Hi,
If this helps - I was really worried about setting up a basic bank account. But CCCS told me I should as I was seriously o/d with my original bank. I went to Barclays and I have to say they were fantastic. I explained I what I wanted and they were incredibly helpful. I got a debit card no problem. They automatically set up a savings account to run alongside (although I did explain I probably wouldn't need it for a while lol - and I haven't!).
I have gone o/d very slightly with Barclays on a couple of occasions and they only charged me £8 and it was my fault so I can't complain. I have to say I was sceptical but I do rate Barclays service. Now Barclaycard that's another matter ... :-)
I do wish you well and hope you can get sorted quickly. And I wish you peaceful nights (mine were rubbish sleepers so I really do sympathise).
Thanks Niddy for all you've done! :j0 -
Thank, I have been scanning the info I have been given the link for and I was thinking of a Barclays account. I just need to check the branch locationsCrazy unorganised mum in need of help!

Made a start at cutting back/making money today

Sorted out a box of stuff to list on Ebay and took pic (not listing till Sunday as it's free listing day
)
Sorted a box of stuff for listing on a mums nearly new site (bit like ebay but no charges/fees)
Sorted my prams out so I can selling one. I have 3 at the min, crazy I know! I bought one, then I have been given 2 form people that no longer need them. I'm going to keep the 2 I was given and sell the one I bough. Will need to get a rain cover for the one I'm keeping but should still make £150. I'll be able to sell another one once my little girl is older and mover into the 2nd one I'm keeping
Printed letters to change the address on all my bills/statements as some still go to my mums and some to my aunts where I lived
Read the info on basic bank account and pick the one best for me, checked out branch location and asked someone to sit the little one so I can go open one.
Found new childcare for when I go back to work as they changed my shift and the one I had already sorted can't cover the changed hours. It's 50p per hour cheaper an with 20 hours a week to pay for the saving will really add up over the year.
Changed all the light bulbs in the house for energy saver ones that came free from power company (had 2 boxes delivered for some reason)
Called the power company and got estimate monthly dd amounts
Went trough the cupboards and freezer and made 2 weeks meal plan to use up what I've already got.
Send a bag of clothes to my aunts to be altered/fixed, normally I would have just put them in the bin and got new ones
I know it's only small things but I feel like I am moving in the right direction.Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!

just wanted to say a really big well done to you! thats a really big step you have taken and i really hope you are feeling more positive having taken this step
you should do!
it might not seem like much but every small step gets you closer to your goalDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0
