    Savvy!!

Would that person think they are a 'better person' just because they're buying the same or similar product for a higher price?? :rotfl:

I don't think that has got much to do with shopping, that poster is just trying to put someone down, not nice

    Happy moneysaving all.
  • Savvy!!

I'm fed up with those who judge a person based on where they do their shopping! Tut tut :naughty:

As long as you get your money's worth and you are happy with the quality it doesn't matter where you got it from!! :)
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

    new beginnings...... new successes..
  • there's nothing wrong with being a cheapscate!!

however there is a lot wrong with calling someone a 'retard' on a thread. I am suprised you put a link to a thread where you come across as a bully :

So does shopping in these types of shops make you a cheap skate or are you just being a savvy shopper?"

I think it's about disposable income - and richer people having no idea that others have less than them.

If you have an income of £1000 and live alone, then after rent/bills on a small flat, you will have about £300/month to live on, so just £3600/year for everything. Others, with an income of £2500/month, after rent/bills on a nicer place, will still have about £1500/month to live on, or £18000/year. Those with £1000-£1500/month after basic bills/rent will think they're struggling and will have no idea that the person they are talking to is managing on £300, so you have to shop savvy - those are the people that call others cheapskates.

My motto is: "you can only spend it once", so if I have £10 I could spend it on a lovely meal out, or I can spend £3 on ingredients and cook the meal myself, or I can pick up the whoopsies and cook an entirely different meal for £1. I know which I'd do most of the time .... freeing up the remaining £9 to maybe buy a pair of shoes and a top from a charity shop. Savvy!

That's a big element of it. It's also an insult that people sometimes throw around to make them feel better about their own spending patterns.

Having seen the amount of large EXPENSIVE cars ( £40k +) outside our local Lidls I think it shows that a lot of people are wise enough to be choosy ;) where they shop.

To my mind I care not where people shop I am more concern with the amount people overshop.

Sound like the person who made the comment is just trying to justify their own spending.
Ive just seen this thread over on HUKD and wondered what you guys thought.

This is the text from the poster,

"As has been kindly pointed out by somebody on another thread im a cheap skate, apparantly because I choose to spend my money a bit more wisely by shopping in the likes of aldi, lidl, poundland etc

So does shopping in these types of shops make you a cheap skate or are you just being a savvy shopper?"

I personally shop in the discounters as i have little money, and the larger supermarkets are out of town so the cost of a bus / taxi to get back with my shopping isn't worth spending for the little i may save.
    Put the kettle on. ;)
