OS washing - Conditioner making?

I have just read the thread about making laundry goop and also making the 3 mix washing powder so i will give that a try!

I was wondering what people use for conditioner? I wanna try some of the new lenor concentrate as it smells really nice (had a free sample) but dont want the expense!

Any tips?

    quick answer - vinegar.

If you want to make your own, then mix 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup bicarbonate of sada, 2 cups water and a few drops of essential oils of your choice. Do this over the sink as it fizzes up.

I have done this in the past but now I just use a couple of tbsp of vinegar. The smell doesn't last if in fact it's there to start with. And I'm currently using ordinary brown malt vinegar (tesco value - 17p per bottle) It makes my clothes soft and disinfects/deodorises them too. I can live without the artificially produces fragrances that the big companies "insist" are required for clean and fresh washing. (They are carcinogenic anyway)

If it's just the smell you want you can use a few drops of essential oil instead of softener. On the other hand Tesco do a big bottle of basic softener for 34p.

I don't actually get what conditioner is meant to do. I grew up in a house where we never used it.

I have the impression that its something the big companies tell us we need to use (like room air freshner etc) that we don't really need to.
