I think you're talking about UGG Australia brand (Decker)...plenty of other sheepskin boot brands out there which you can get far cheaper, eg. I got my Emu stingers from Amazon for £56 about 6 months ago (Amazon's prices yo yo alot, but I imagine they were cheaper because it was summer).

I was just about to go for the grey, but I want proper sheepskin too! What is shearling wool?

I own one pair of bearpaws which are sheepskin inside (I think!). What are the main differences?

Boots made from twin faced sheepskin are made from a single piece of sheepskin which has the wool on one side and the skin still attached on the other. It's breathable (so comfortable temp wise in both winter and summer) and super comfortable, they mould better to the shape of your foot etc etc.

Just googled this bit of an explanation here.

Other boots, for example these skechers (from what I can gather from Amazon's description) are man made suede upper (synthetic) with the shearling wool attached/glued to the inside. Other boots can be made from genuine suede or cowhide, and are similarly lined with wool, therefor not as breathable/comfortable (necessarily).

The missus doesn't like Emu boots, sadly

Wish I had a costco card or a nearby costco for that matter.

Awww shame, they're not that cheap at the moment though anyway, prices seem to have rocketed on Emu's for this season. Emu's are my favourite, they're quite compact and not as sloppy looking as other brands (emu Stinger's not Bronte's, which are poo imo).

A shearling is a year old sheep. Should be beautiful wool. The older the sheep the worse the wool gets.
  • Many thanks, just ordered the a pair of the short boots size 5. I like long boots but my calf can't fit in them.

Most of my boots are Kirkland (Cost Co) sheepskin that I got last winter for £23 per pair inc VAT (they were also available this year for £27 inc VAT), which are indistinguishable from UGG Australia tall classics except they don't have the label :).

Can I ask which costco? I go to Costco quite often and have never seen these, definately want a pair, everytime I have checked recently they've had the deckers uggs I haven't see any kirkland ones?

Emu boots do loads of new styles for this season, and most are 100% twin faced sheep skin.

Stingers, Outback, Barossa, 2up Stingers etc all sheepskin. I think it's only the Bronte that are suede outer and wool lined.

And the skechers are sythetic, so yes it does make a difference.
