Mortgage application with overdraft

Hi,

I'm applying for a mortgage with my girlfriend.

We are first time buyers and earn £50k between us.

We only want a mortgage for £135k.

I have an overdraft for £1800 which I am in. Will this affect us getting a morgage or do lenders just look at whether you have a stable income coming in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Mike

  • Hi There,

Me and my partner got a mortgage from Lloyds about 8 weeks ago, I have an overdraft of £1200 (student and its interest free so havent cleared this as yet) they had no problem with this at all and didnt ask that it was paid in full before they offered the mortgage.

We dont have any other debt though ie car is bought outright and credit cards are clear so I am wondering if this may have gone in our favour.

Lenders will assess your over all affordability....

    Thanks both.

I've just had a word with the mortgage advisor and he doesn't seem to think it will be a problem either.

    Thanks,
