Wasn't sure where to post this, but, this is where the Boots babes live, so, though this would be best suited here until MOD decides to move it. And I did search but, couldn't find it posted elsewhere.
Anyhoo, sign up for the Boots Collection Prescription Service and receive 250 points. No prescription required.

great. good find. will do that asap. do you happen to know anything about the new law that i've heard allows parents to get childhood medicines direct from chemists without having to pay them, ie calpol equivelents etc? boots might be the best place to find out seeing they're the biggest pharmacy.
a friend of mine mentioned it, she saw something about it on a mother and child website chatspace, my doctor thought she had some recollection of such a service but couldn't say anymore than that and my chemist, not boots, poo-pooed the idea, going on about how he would get his money if he gave away free medicine!!
any ideas?

pabby-ellis,
I think you are refering to the Minor Ailment Scheme. Its part of the new pharmacy contract as an enhanced service and is available depending whether your PCT has decided to roll the service out. You can ask your local pharmacy whether they have started it yet or not.
Its not so much a i want a calpol so they will give me one. The pharmacist carries out a consultation and then can prescribe certain medicines which they feel appropiate. Also its not only available to children but to anyone who doesn't pay for their prescription charges.

I used this service recently it was really easy. All I had to do was give my childs details and her doctors details. Pharmacist had a look at her and I walked away with some verucca cream . The service has been in operation for ages in my area but I just never bothered looking into it. I could have saved myself a fortune in Calpol equivalent. Only thing is you could have quite a wait to see the pharmacist then another 20 min wait to pick up the prescription. Certainly a great service for minor ailments and I will use them again for antihistamines, calpol etc which I usually just pay for.I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0

Well you said this was one for Boots babes, so thanks very much for this

The minor ailments scheme went live in Scotland on 1st July from all pharmacies. People who don't pay for their prescriptions (except prepaid) can register for the scheme and receive free OTC medicines where the pharmacist deems it appropriate.0

I'm having so much trouble registering on the web site and the prescription service.
I'll try again tomorrow

Thank you! Just wondered if you can register more than one family member or whether this does the whole family? Would be handy for all the family, even more so if you could get points for each registration:rotfl:0

Signed up - but no points for me - says my postcode did not return any matches for boots in my area. Shame.:rotfl:Red Hot by name, Red hot by nature. :rotfl:0
