Any male been to this agency for finding work?
Are they as good as other agencies like Reed, Brook Street, etc...?
The name seems like a women type recruitment agency, and if I went in there, I will feel odd. lol.

I worked for them for a while when I was a student - they were a bit of a nightmare to be honest, but I don't think that's down to them personally, all agencies can be difficult. And yes, of course they'll recruit males!0

When I was a student, Office Angels found me a role as male PA, was great to build up some much needed experience, and came with a few perks.0

Office Angels has a bit of a girly image, but that is because of the perceptions that girls do officy admin and secretarial work!
While they are no better (certainly no worse) than any of the other large and small high street agencies, I am afraid that the business model they operate under collectively is that Agents/consultants are paid a low basic wage, and commissions and bonuses for hours worked by temps, number of new starters and so on.
If your job (they frequentlky get fired for not hitting strict targets) and how much you earn is goverened by how many people you place and how much you bill each month, you are going to be terribly focused on doing the things that help you achieve the targets and thus get paid well.. and utterly disinterested in admin and filing.
When a client wants a temp, it is often an immediate start, and it is rarely given to just one agency.. consequequently the agency cant advertise as the job will be filled long before the advert is live, and unless the job is exclusive to them, they may end up advertising a role they ultimately dont fill. As a result "most" temp ads are fishing ads.
Agencies often block book advert space in advance to get cheap rates, and that space has to be filled.. Many will write a generic ad that is suitably vague, mentions the type of characteristics most clients want (you will be flexible, good under pressure, attentive to detail).. and describe appealing company characteristics to get you to send CV's.
Do not for one minute think these CV's are filed and databased.. a few really good ones will be, and temps who work for the agency will also.. the rest will be binned, or boxed.. it takes far too long to catalog and store them properly when you could be calling another client to get another requirement.. the job is telesales NOT career advisor.
By keeping a constant stream of CV's coming in, agencies dont need to file them.. each consultant will have 20 on their desk each day, most responding to the generic ads.. they might interview some as a token gesture to suggest they are experts, marrying your skills and desires to just the right client, and getting a "perfect candidate" for your job requirement Mr Employer.. but on the whole, a job comes in, a CV goes out, an Interview is booked.. then the process starts all over again.
With most generic agencies, if they haven't placed you as a temp or havent found you a good job yet, send a CV by email every day.. it is unlikely to do you any harm. Do not get taken in by all the hype, dont expect a professional service until such times as you are up for an interview, at which point they will babysit and handhold you every step of the way, and for 10 weeks after your start date when the clawback of the 25% commission expires.0 -
I used to work with a bloke employed through Office Angels so they do get men jobs too!0
