Lucrative Weekend Jobs in London?

Does anyone have advice on good things to do to earn money at the weekend? I live in London and often find myself spending the weekend wondering if I could be doing something that could boost my income. In the sprawling metropolis, there must surely be something a graduate with varied experience could do to pass the time and put a bit more brass in pocket.

I've a few ideas:

1. I was a film extra in August 2008 after I responded to a message sent to a facebook group I was a member of. I got paid £100 for sitting around reading, chatting and playing cards for seven hours and being filmed for about one hour. I see there's a multitude of extras agencies to sign up for but they all seem to require payment. Can anyone recommend the best one for weekend shooting?

2. I'm reasonably good with solving simple computer problems that people who aren't particularly computer literate find totally baffling. Is there any money to be made in this?

3. Isn't there any work in the City on the weekend that will bring in a big fat bonus?

Thanks for your advice,

LT

  • As far as number 2 goes, the problem with making money from it, is that so many people are computer literate these days, and people that arent generally tend to have a family member or friend that they can turn to, free of charge. Not to say there isn't money in it of course, but very tricky!

I wouldnt expect anything lucrative, for part time weekend work! Unless of course, you're of the finer sex and get a job waitressing etc in the right location for good tips, eg a casino!

Depends how much you want to make. If you're any good at it what about gardening, decorating, driving - man with a van sort of thing. ?Also tutoring your subject. You can earn £50 a hour doing that. Find tutorial agencies and work through them. You'll need to be police checked.

I think the computer trouble shooting idea isn't a bad one.

    Good luck.
  • You shouldn't pay any money to an agency p-front on the promise of them finding you work.

This is actually now an illegal practise!

Any reputable agency will put you on their books if they know you will get extras work and will make their money out of commission on your earnings.
