Ruche Tie Pattern

Hi,
We are having our bridesmaids dresses made by a retired seamstress, who has said she'll make ruche ties from the same material, for the men, at £10 each.
Ok its only a tenner, but if I can find a pattern to make them then I can save myself £40 by getting my Mum to make them instead.
Has anyone got a pattern, or know where to get one from? I've had a look around on the net and can only find cravats.
I tried one on in the shop, and its shaped like a regular tie, expect the thick end is much wider, and rounded. Not like double ended normal tie, that I believe is a cravat?
Any help appreciated.

There is a thread on www.youandyourwedding.co.uk that says the cravat and ruche are the same thing just tied differently. It gives inscructions on how to tie them as a ruche (I've never heard of them before)0

Hi Lexxi. They aren't the same thing. Cravats are 1 long piece of fabric and the ruched are pre-tied and have velcro as the fastener at the back. I guess you could tie them, but I have no idea how that would be done. Patterns can be very hard to find. Try Vogue.0

Sorry, I thought I'd posted the post. Like I said I'd never heard of a ruche tie before so I don't know if it is any help. Borrowed from http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/chatroom/topic/63680
To tie it (as though on yourself) im right handed so im discribing like that.
round your neck
fat end longer that thin end (like an ordanary tie)
fat end in left hand thin end in right.
cross fat over thin (at the point where fat starts to go thin) and all the way over to left hand side again.
then over again but pass the fat end through the middle (where your chin is) this is now the cravat when thin end is pulled down th bring to the neck.
for the ruche tie...
take the fat bit you put through the middle and tuck it through the part where you crossed it over the thin (like a tie).
when you pull the fat part down and tighten it to the neck with the thin the fabric will bulk up and ruche around the knot you made.
secure with a cravat pin through the knot if you dont want it to move!0 -
Can't find a free one, but found one on Ebay for £5

I've never seen one tied like that but that's not to say it won't work. (she says nipping off to tie dads "proper" cravat in the ruched method.)
Comes back!
Ok, seems perfectly succesful. The amount of fabric in a cravat opposed to a normal tie means you can get a succesfull scrunch. Not as scrunched as a pre-tied one however.
The only question now is, will the men be able to tie them successfully? It's much like sashes. They need to be "dressed" and I'm sure many ladies who have tried to tie the perfect bow will know how my pressure you will be under on your wedding day!.
