Face Painting

Options
Hey everyone!

Anybody know how things stand with face painters in N.Ireland? I'm an art student and always did face painting at an art store I worked in, also do it a lot at family parties.

I have police vetting from a volunteering place I work for. Do I need to be officially approved before offering a face painting service on weekends? Would be a good way for me to get extra income for uni!

Unsure about vetting but I think you would need public liability insurance just in case some child gets a reaction. Also alot of places wont let you in unless you've got this. I know there someone does face painting @ St Georges Market on Saturday but they also do balloon modelling too. Might be worth your while paying St Geo Mark a visit to see if you think theres room for 2 face painters.
  • The businesslink.gov.uk has a great step by step plan to determine what kind of legal steps (laws, certificates, insurance etc) you have to take care of.
On Moneysaving expert site, this page could be useful: I'm not allowed to post links, but you should find it at /banking/small-business.

    Good luck!

  • You could try asking at some of the family friendly restaurants to see - I know they used to do it at Pizza Express on sundays (maybe still do, don't go on Sundays any more). I also noticed a new Nandos opening across the road from Pizza X on Bedford Street - might be worth asking there since it has a similar family friendly feel.
