Years ago I used to give any mouldy bits I cut off cheese to our cat. She was very healthy and had the glossiest coat I've ever seen.0

I used to work in a cheese shop and to maintain the big cheeses you unwrapped the clingfilm, shaved off the dodgy bits and rewrapped really tightly in fresh clingfilm.
That's the Food Hygiene Police for you !
Wrapping cheese in clingfilm is a terrible thing to do - it makes it sweat.
Refrigeration kills the taste.
Ideally cheese should be just kept on a wooden cheese board with a cover over it, and just in a cool place.Gus.0
