1) could i make sausage casserole in the pressure cooker or would the pressure explode the sausages?
2) is it very bad to release the pressure by knocking the little weight thing? it lets a lot of steam out, but its hard to fit the thing in my sink to run water over it...
thanks all!!

1) Not sure about the sausages - if I were you I'd !!!!! the skins and chuck them in to see what happens. Report back here;)
2) My pressure cooker says that you absolutely can jiggle the valve bit to let out steam quickly, but this might vary between models. So you can a) push down on the valve with a wooden spoon b) run the cooker under the cold tap or c) just turn the heat off and leave it until the pressure drops naturally.0 -
I always jiggle the weight with a wooden spoon to speed up release of pressure but be careful not to do it so hard the weight comes off otherwise you will end up with a rather too fast releaseIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I've never had a problem with exploding sausages in the pressure cooker and that's how I always make the filling for my stead and sausage pie. I also jiggle the weight to release steam/pressure quicker if the meal is to be eaten immediately, otherwise I just turn off the heat and leave it to its own devices, then re-heat later.Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds Live is AWESOME!!2009 Sealed Pot Challenge Banked £100Comp wins: Shearer Candles (£43)Depressed, dieting, binge-eater with gastric bypass.
