Debts & Deportation

Hi all,
Im a 19 year old guy and been living in the UK on an ancestral visa for the past four years. I have now been denied permanent residence where my entire family has been granted residency. I have no criminal convictions and plan to fight this decision under the Human Rights Act.
In the event of being deported what will happen to the loan i have taken out to buy a car and money spent on my credit card? Any advise on this situation will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Matt

A bit of a tricky one. I'm assuming you don't have the money to fully repay these debts. If you tell the lender, it's entirely possible they will ask for their money to be repaid. You may be able to come to some sort of arrangement.
If you exit the UK leaving the debt, it depends where you go. There are agreements in place to recover civil debts in other countries. It has not been unknown for lenders to track down debtors, particularly in Europe and the US and threaten to pursue through the court of that country unless it's paid. Most financial organisations are multi-national companies and as soon as you start opening accounts etc abroad, you start leaving a trail.0 -
That's without getting into the realms of any criminal offences that may be committed as a result of intent.0

However, being denied permament residency is not the same thing as being deported. Probably the denial is a technical matter, a question of how long you have been here. Have you been granted limited leave to remain? Is there any scope for applying again, or appealing? I hope that you have taken advice from an immigration lawyer. Quite frankly, the debts in question are the least important aspect of your situation.0
