I am looking into changing everyone we deal with to save the pennies(gas, eletric, phone, car insurance etc)
but do i have to have been with them a certain amount of time before switching? do you need to wait till your yearly renewal?
are mortgage insurance policies taken out at the same time always able to be swopped or can they be tied into the mortgage deal.
can you switch mortgages at any time, have bad credit so dont think we will be able too
got my money diet book this morning and hope to get finances in a better state very soon

Hi there!
I'm not 100% sure about the answers to your questions but I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows
In the meantime, you could browse the specific boards for the things you're asking about (insurance, mortgages, utilities) and see if the answer is there anywhere.

for very cheap PPI etc try HERE
Havnt got insurance on my loan at the mo; but will get it [around £4/mnth instead of £18-20 from NW!] :money:
it depends on how much you repay each month then calculates the cost from there0 -
i'm afraid all are different and depend upon the specific terms and conditions.
gas& elect can usually be changed at any time
telephone packages, broadband, mobiles etc tend to lock you in with a minimum period (often a year ) but can then be cancelled with a month's notice
Most but not all insurance (i.e. car, house, contents ) are yearly even if paying monthly but you sometimes get a refund if you terminate early
PPI on credit cards can usually be cancelled at any time (although sometimes with difficulty). PPI on loans is difficult to cancel
mortgages depend upon your deal...standard one can be paid off at any time although there are fees, but if you have a fixed or capped type deal then its often very costly to pay them off early.
in other words you have to read YOUR T&Cs...0 -
Colleague looked up U-switch to check out other suppliers for gas and electricity, came up with a company called EDF, she has never heard of it (we are in Scotland) anyone out there use this company and can let us know if it's ok.
Thank you in anticipation.0 -

Edf are the same company as London Energy - had our utilities supplied by them and they were fine. You could get nectar points through London Energy too, so worth asking EDFDon't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Except for death and paying taxes, everything in life is only for now...
