How about a special thread where we can all share our tips for coping with this icy weather? Might be a good idea to keep all our ideas in one place:

- Keep torches, candles and matches available in case of a power cut.
- Have tinned food available (i.e. baked beans) which can be eaten cold if you have no power for cooking.
- Dishwasher salt works well for de-icing paths, etc.
- Keep curtains closed all day in unused rooms to preserve heat.
- Wear extra layers of clothing. Even indoors most of your heat is lost through your head so wear a woollen hat.
