I cut it up so we can eat it - eg tomorrow a swede and cauliflower will be for all of us - it's not jsut for her IYSWIM. The cooked bits will then be frozen and reheated as needed, but it means that when I do a meal for myself and youngest, eldest has no fresh veg, unless I buy more especially for her.

i think people are suggesting that you only chop, cook and freeze an amount that the rest of the family can eat

your daughters share, should be left whole in the fridge, and should usually keep for a week

so if doing a cauliflower, only chop off enough florets for those who like it cooked, and leave the remainder, still attached to the stalk/leaves for your daughter

you dont have to chop a whole cauli or swede in one go. ok the half of swede left in the fridge may go dry on the cut side, but you cut off a sliver to remove this part, and behind, thats its still fresh. i would expect most root vegetable and brassics to keep in the fridge for at least a week if not more

however, the green keep fresh bags from Poundland that have been suggested really do work - i can keep spinach fresh for at least 3wks in one of those, wheras usually its turned to mush within a few days, if left in a normal plastic bag

I second or third the green bags, got mine at the 99p store and have been amazed at how fresh they keep the veg
