Hi everyone.
I have a dinner service by the french company Limoges and I want to find out if its worth anything but I dont know where to start?
I dont want to pay a lot for valuation in case its not worth anything, but I was wondering if there is a service where you can take pics and post them online for a free valuation?
Thank you everyone

Not sure valuers would be happy with just pics, especially for china as even tiny chips or cracks massively affect the value. Most auction houses will at least have a look for you. Bonhams regularly advertise free valuation days (https://www.bonhams.com).0

Thanks i'll have a look at that site. I'm not looking for a definate answer to what its worth, more like a 'range'. Just to be told whether its worth chucking back in the loft or chucking away!0

Definitely don't bin it! Bound to be worth something........have you had a check on ebay just to see what they have for sale? Saw a limoges set on there for a very pretty penny. Just given me an idea, as we have a dinner and coffee set in the attic which cost over £500 23 years ago - wonder if that's worth anything nowadays?0

Gosh Anne_Marie it must be worth a fortune now!!
I've looked on ebay and Limoges seems to be a good make, but there is not one single auction for the type i've got! I've done a general search but nothing
I dont want to put it on ebay and get something like £20 for the lot, i'd rather keep it in the loft!0 -
Good luck Leonie. If I think of anything else, will post.
Have you got a piccy, cos I could have a rake for you too - and sure others might have a better clue then. Or do you have the name of the set - anything to identify it?
Have no idea of our set, don't even know what make it is. And not crawling up into the attic to check at this time of night! What am I talking about - no fears of me going into the attic at all, will have to wait a few months for Mr AM to come back from sea!
Was a wedding present from a very generous uncle on OH's side, who sadly is no longer with us. Doubt if I could part with it, but wouldn't mind valuation.
Just was really taken aback at the time, was told I could pick any dinner service I wanted in a shop with no prices - how scary is that? I was just young and skint, it was another world altogether, and I would have settled for a plate and mug for both of us! Just know that at the time, we carpeted the whole house for less than the price of the dinner set! :eek:0 -
Aww thats a lovely story.
What I will do is take a picture and then send a link to it to see if anyone has seen it before.... you never know!
I'll post here when i've got it out of hibernation
ok here is a pic of the large serving platter http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i119/cooip/limoges.jpg and it says haviland on the back, but this isnt the haviland that shows up in google0 -
