Hi, me and my fiance are currently looking at venues for our wedding in september 2011, I am from Dungannon so would like something not too far away where we could have civil ceremony/reception in the one place. Thinking a nice country house hotel/stately home? So far we are going to look at Parkanaur manor house, Tullylagan and Brownlow House (lurgan castle). Anyone know of any other good venues or have comments on wedding at the above?
Thanks, lauren xx

Hi,We had our weddding at Edenmore Golf Club Maghralin,it would only be a few miles other side of Lurgan. When me and my wife went to look at it we just fell in love with the function room and the fact we were able to take our photos around the golf club+their prices were reasonable as well.
Also try tthe Seagoe Hotel in Portadown but you'd need to book it if you wanted it as a venue soon as there used to be a 2 yr waiting list for it.0 -
Both Parkanaur + Tullylagon are beautiful. You also have The Agory which is another fantastic spot and not too far away. If you need any help with flowers, music for service & reception or Chocolate Fountain give me a shout as I have a few very good contacts. Best of luck0

Brokeattheminute - I have considered the seagoe but it's not really what I am looking for, also just reminds me of our school formal lol! I will look up some info about the other place though, thanks for your advice.
Choco - I was thinking of having a chocolate fountain but have heard it's very expensive? I'm so excited to go and look now as have heard good things about all 3 places from people0 -

I know its not necessarily that close to dungannon, but we had ours in florencecourt
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-florencecourt
and then our reception in the manor house. we got a guided tour of florencecourt after the wedding with the rest of the wedding party which was nice, plus the grounds are lovely.
We then had our reception in the manor house in enniskillen. Ours was a small immediate family circle wedding but the manor house really made us feel special - bottle of champers on ice and choccies in the room, and then after the ceremony when we arrived back the manager met us with another bottle of champagne which was a nice touch. They were very attentive the whole day and even the following morning. Cant rate them highly enough.0 -
Avoid the Seagoe Hotel at all costs - the hotel is going down the tubes with local rumours it's been sold again to not very nice people
Highly recommend Tullylagan, it's suppose to be one of the best wedding venues in NI, Parkanaur would be lovely but think of the additional cost of catering - also can be strict on alcohol and dancing but I think it's the same for all national trust properties, so consider The Argory and Ardress House!
Edenmore is fantastic, infact I recently recommended to a friend who has booked it.
What kind of numbers have you got, it'll determine where you go

Thanks for the replies, have got roughly i'd say 60 for wedding and about 100 altogether for evening, so not too many compared to some people lol. I hadn't heard anything about the seagoe but just remember going to our school formal there (although that is a good 6/7 yrs ago now) and the food was awful!0

Its actually a lovely gentleman from Dungannon who is manager now. I spoke to him last year and I'm sure he will be disappointed to hear Cathy 2702 comments0

To the best of my knowledge Parkanaur is not a National Trust property but Agory is most certainly and they have their own restaurant etc. but I'm sure Harry will be able to give you all the details. Any way if you need catering I can soon post you in right direction.0

As I said choco, last time I was there was years ago so I dont know too much about it, unfortunately it's not what i'm looking for anyway. I had heard from my friend's mum who went to a wedding there that the food is now very nice but I think what cathy meant was more about it changing hands again which I suppose wouldn't be too good if you had your wedding booked there then someone took over who didn't do things up to the standards you had expected?0

Well I would have to agree with you if its changing hands. On the other hand if you were to go to Parkanaur or Agory you could get your own Caterers and 4 people that I know run their own restaurants and do outside catering.
Count your blessings you've got this site when I got married 27+ years ago there were very few computers. Our reception was in Hanover House, Coagh and they didn't even offer a bed for the night!0
