Haggling over kitchen price with B&Q?

Just wondering if anyone's had any success with beating B&Q down on their kitchen quotes. We were in there for over an hour last night trying to get the 5000 cost down. Most we got was a 200 wire pullout corner drawer reduced to 100. OH isn't happy to let it lie at that though. The Asst Manager there last night said that there was already 15% off the price of the kitchen so he couldn't really knock anymore off. We're going back tomorrow night to hopefully do battle with the actual store manager, so would appreciate hearing what - if anything! - other people have managed to wangle off the price!

Thanks

Check out Ikeas website, download the kitchen planner. Choose your kitchen and plan it out, see it in 3D, then press the total button and hopefully get a nice surprise!! Went to all the normal kitchen outlets and was quoted between 3700 and 4500, went to Ikea website with the same type of shaker style kitchen and was pleasantly surprised at 1600, thats with birch worktops and a 10 year guarantee. BTW, my kitchen is 21 x 8. Hope this helps.

When we bought our kitchen from B&Q they had a sign up saying that they will not be beaten in price. We got an estimate from MFI and asked them to price match - which they did. After it had been delivered the kitchen went down in price in the sale. I went back to B&Q, and asked them to refund the difference. When they said No, I asked them to arrange collection of the kitchen units as they were still unassembled in flat-packs in my house, and that I would go and re-buy them at the reduced price at a later date from a different branch. I quoted their sign and said that they had actually beaten their own price! The Manager said he would have to ring Head Office to authorise this as he didn't want to give me any money. Head Office then agreed to a cash refund of the difference!

    Hope this is some use!

From experience I can advise you that it will be quite hard to get any further discount ( especially you are buying it during an 'extra 15%' event) as unlike a number of other 'similar' retailers they do not 'inflate' their prices prior to the sale in order to show greater discounts and give the sales staff 'room to negotiate'.

However, they state that they guarantee to beat any competitor on a 'like for like basis' - Get another couple of quotes and use these for ammunition -

It also depends how desperate you are for this kitchen - B & Q regularly hold discount weekends up to 20% off - May be worth waiting (However check the expiry date of your quote - If any specials you have been offered have increased in price by the time you decide than you may end up paying more)

However, good luck, let us know what further discount they offer you

Are you sure you want a B&Q kitchen? 3 friends have recently had kitchens from there and they have had awful problems with missing and broken bits and very slowly delivery.

I had bought a MFI kitchen some years ago and was happy with delivery etc and last year bought wardrobes from them. Never again. Took 6 months to get all the right undamaged parts and they wouldn't collect the damaged bits I had to dispose of them myself.

I wouldn't buy from MFI - they are on the verge of going bust.
I work for B&Q and I doubt you could haggle the price of a kitchen lower than what the prices currently are. Selected kitchens currently have 20% off and then another 15% on top. As mentioned above B&Q do hold 20% off weekends but I can't personally see these coming any time soon. I'm sure the company is doing well at the moment and is hitting targets and therefore there is no need for the 20% push. There was alot of these discount weekends near the end of the last B&Q trading year (feb-feb) our store manager said that this was a push to hit targets. Maybe towards the end of summer these might begin again.

My advice would be to shop around and hopefully find a cheaper quote than B&Q, they will then match the lower price and reduce it by 10%
