HELP payplan email im confused

i had an email today from payplan but am confused by it

Just to keep your informed I have copied a case note from Halifax below. This means that they will not chase ***** for the balance of this account, but it will remain on his credit file as outstanding, you will have to make cash payments over the counter at a Halifax branch, quoting the e/ number stated. We have deleted this account off the creditor summary.

" Account Number D/ has been archived because ...as a.c written off by £1707.98 on 6th April 2006 and a.c closed and to pay back to E/5523-8 "

does this mean halifax have refused to deal with paypal

cheers all Fi x

I think they have written the debt off as a bad debt.

Although it will be still outstanding on your credit file but it seems halifax will no longer pursue you for this as probably cutting their losses. What payplan are doing is giving you the option to continue making payments if you want to. If this is the case i would ask for written confirmation from Halifax as the debt will eventually become statute barred if they no longer contact you regarding this debt and you make no payments for 6 years.

Hope this helps - this is just my take on what you posted
