Homemade Goldfish Food

I'm running out of goldfish food. Does anyone feed their fish something other than the little coloured flakes you buy in a tub in pet shops?

I'm really attached to my little goldfish so would prefer not to kill her with something unsuitable. :D

We keep cichlids (tropical fish) and make up a concoction from brocolli, cabbage, heart, kidney or liver, spinach, garlic and any other green veggies we might have, boil it all together in a pan until nice and sludgy, put into icecube trays if you want to be neat, or into slabs, bag them up and shove them in the freezer, they love it, and we also feed them on spirulina occasionally and brine shrimp or bloodworm. I would imagine if you google it, there will be similar recipes for goldfish.
