having recently received a big fat cheque from the revenue for DH's overpaid income tax for last year, today got a letter from DH's employer stating the value of his company private medical insurance as a taxable benefit. now I hadnt included this in my calcs as I had forgotten about it (plus they have never actually confirmed that he is a member of the scheme).

they have sent the info to the revenue as well. should I just wait for them to contact us to ask for the money or should I contact them first?

I'd contact them first before they think your trying to pull a fast one. I would be nice to try and outsmart the taxman but they'll get you in the end!!
