What can you put in the freezer?

What is good and not so good to be kept in the freezer?

What can/should be cooked from frozen and what should be thawed?

I know that peppers don't freeze well IMO - it seems that the freezing process breaks down their texture and I'm not keen on it. What veg is good to freeze from fresh or what are the best frozen veg to buy (for cheapness!)

But I've seen people commenting on here about freezing grated cheese & making sandwiches from frozen sliced bread

Any tips greatfully received!!

I would be quite interested in this too actually. I don't think you can freeze lettuce because it's water based. I chop and freeze leeks and put them in a bag so I can use handfuls in soup/casseroles.

I would have thought peppers would be ok though as you can buy frozen peppers in bags. They would maybe be fine to use in cooking rather than eating raw? I thought you could freeze any fresh veg that you can buy ready frozen but someone more experienced will no doubt clarify it.

Its often more trial and error.Strawberries get very watery when defrosted as do most things with high water content.I freeze almost anything rather than bin it if I cannot eat it in time Bananas doen't look good when defrosted, but if you are grilling them with a marshmallow inside I suppose it wouldn't matter. Its more what it looks like than anything else .Some cream gets a bit grainy and gritty when defrosted so I wouldn't bother but if made into a quiche then it seems o.k.

Meat, soup, stews, most fruit (not straws) pies, bread for a short amount of time. I also have a very angry looking whole fish in mine at the moment.

If you look here and scroll down a bit you will find a section on freezing things. I use this all the time to help me.
