HELP 13 coming to lunch tomorrow and need bread recipe!!!!

Hi,

I'm sure the answer to my question is already on here but I have little time to read through, sorry!

I found out half an hour ago that Mrs Ging's family has invited themselves aournd for lunch tomorrow . I really don't want to go out and buy food as I have committed to just one shopping trip a week for 2010 and don't want to fail in my first week!

I thought I would do a fake leek and potato soup (fake because I don't have any leeks in ;)) and make some homemade bread to go with it. So I'm looking for an easy bread recipe that will be quick to do and where I canmake about 3 loaves.

Choc cake to make for afters.... no need for a recipe for that I know several off by heart :rotfl:

TIA, Ging x

Quick(ish) and easy one here - 1tblsp vegetable shortening BTW - well, 1 tblsp any fat = approx 1/2 an ounce and I'd use butter if you haven't got trex or whatever vegetable shortening is called in the UK.

If you've got time, the artisan bread featured here is fantastic, dead easy and very impressive. The only thing is, it does take time to rise, and if your kitchen is anything like as cold as mine is, that might be a problem at the mo. Do give it a go at some point though, it's fantastic!
