Hi,
We are first time buyers with a 5% deposit, we fancy buying a new house valued at £180k.
The housebuilder rang me today to see if we were still interested and said that we were but I didnt hold out much hope as we only had a small deposit, she suggested that I speak to an independent mortgage advisor that does a lot of work for them.
When the mortgage advisor rang she said that she may have a solution to our problem, what she said was the housebuilder might be in a position to offer us a 5% deposit gift it would depend on the manager of the site to make that decision. She also said that the Halifax have been known to give 10% deposit's which would be interest free and we would have to start paying that back after 10 years.
If they both agree that would give us a 20% deposit, the mortgage with the halifax would be fixed for 2 years at a rate of 6.6%.
cheers.

That doesn't sound right to me... Halifax giving 10% deposits interest free for 10 years??? No chance! Everyone would be taking them!0 -
