For those who have access to it, "Ration Book Britain" will be shown at 9 p.m. on January 15, 2010 on the Yesterday Channel. January 2010 marks the 70th anniversary of rationing in Britain and TV chef Valentine Warner spent a week working his way through the wartime cookbook issued by the Ministry of Food, assisted by the cookery writer, Marguerite Pattern and talks about all the substitutes which were invented to try and make food palatable.
For anybody interested in this period of austerity, it could make for interesting viewing.
