Asda online shopping

Ok today I ordered some shopping online for the first time from Asda. I couldn't get to my local sainsbury's today (cars and lorries kept getting stuck in the snow) so I have just decided to extend the shopping list.
I have noticed that some of their offers are stating ending 31/12/10. Is this an error on their website? I only ordered from them in the first place as they seemed cheaper.
If my order was charged at the higher price i.e if something was 2 for £2 but I was charged £1.50 x 2 do I have an argument?
I know it states on website that charges will be charged for prices instore on that day but I hardly think I will be getting a good deal if I put in for a £80 shop and it comes in at £120 odd?

Has anyone else placed orders with Asda? This is my first proper shop with Asda and indeed my first shop of the year - set myself a moneysaving resloution this year but starting to think Asda is not the place to do this.

  • Hi

I've been ordering from Asda online for a couple of years now and find them the cheapest by far! The offers that say they expire 31.12.10 are correct, they are just offers that they have in store the whole year round, normally it's a Wednesday i think it is that Asda update their short term offers. The bonus with asda being that if your item you ordered is out of stock they are the only supermarket to sustitute it with a more expensive item available, they will never go cheaper than the what you ordered. For example I have ordered 2 packs of mince on offer before and have been sent 2 packs of the large size from the posh range!! and they only charge you the price of the item you ordered!!! Sometimes I just want to see what the substitiures are:rotfl:

After a disastrous Sainsburys online shop last week, I went back to Asda for this week's delivery. I honestly can't fault them. Apart from the weird subsitution of Malted Danish bread with Malt Loaf. Even the driver thought that was funny!
  • So is it common for substitutions to happen with Asda then?
  • Sorry another question about this. When I ordered today, I used the free delivery voucher however when I go to checkout as I have ammended the order, I notice that I am being charged for delivery?
I don't understand as I have placed the order and have added a few things to that order.

If you amend your order you have to enter the free delivery voucher again.

You don't have to accept the subs if you don't want them, and you can also tick the box on checkout to say you do/don't want any subs.

I've only had 2 things substitutions in the 2 years I've been shopping online and both within the last 2 weeks, 1st was cheese I ordered a large block on offer £2 they sent a small one that was more expensive but charged me the £2, and Asda own brand lemonade 3 for £1, they sent 3 Schweppes which was on offer for 2 for £1.50.

  • The good thing about Asda home del is that they don't charge you the extra if the substitute is dearer. My gripe with Asda is that you get charged the price 'on the day'... I've lost count of the number of times I've ordered an item on promotion, only for the promotion to be withdrawn by the day of delivery (despite checking end date at the time of ordering)... Lots of items I only buy because they are on offer- but i'm miffed at having to pay full price. Rant over!
