Company Pick up truck tax

If I bought a pick up truck through my Ltd Co and took advantage of the low company car tax (I know it's going up). If I then used my own private car for business trips, could I still pay myself the 40p/25p per mile for thos trips or would I loose that benefit?

In essence I suppose so. Though it begs the question what is the pick up being used for?

This could raise other issues as if it (pick up) not used in the business at all, then tax/vat relief maybe withheld. Though it would need to be discovered.

Also the definition of commercial vehicle has been altered because of chelsea tractors so it is important to make sure the one you have in mind still counts.

If you have a pickup, the current tax liability is £500 pa I believe, going up to £3000. Very cheap taxation on a company car. As I live on a small holding and could well use such a vehicle, this may be worth considering. However, for travelling any distance, I would prefer to still use my private vehicle and pay myself milage rate. I dunno if you can though....
