Argos misprint????

I bought a set of digital telephones from the Argos sale book, It said it was a quad set, when we unpacked it it was a triple set, I phoned Argos and she just said it was a misprint and they didnt do that particular phone in the quad set, I was so dissapointed as I really wanted 4 phones and liked this particular set as they looked really nice, is there anything I can do about it other than return them?????

Phone again ask for manager/supervisor complain about being mislead, tell them you've spoken to trading standards who are willing to investigate the matter if Argos can't resolve it to your satisfaction. Draw their attention to the number of customers they are providing the wrong information to and say that trading standards were very interested. Insist that they send you a quad which is what you paid for and ask for a good will gesture for your inconvenience. Go for it they can only say no.

Ask for a refund, which you are entitled to. Then find a more suitable set:beer:

If you haven't contacted trading standards, don't lie about it.

I agree, Just go back to the store of purchase and get a refund.

Just say that in the book it says Quad pack, show them what you received and that you've had to travel back to the store due to the error.

Ask nicely and you might get a £5/£10 gift card for your trouble.

I would have agreed with al mac and mhendo had you not had the fob off over the phone, as you have I would suggest an approach along the lines of flo's, but not advisable to say you have spoken with TS's without doing so as if you are not knowledgeable this will become apparent during the conversation and things will go downhill from there. Demand the quad, that was the offer they are obliged to fulfil it a refund should not be satisfactory as you are unlikely to purchase the quad with the same amount of money from them why should they expect you to find it elsewhere for that price, some recompense for your inconvenience and their obstruction is also reasonable to expect, point out the negative aspects of the situation and the fact that they compounded it by misleading both at the time of sale and again upon complaint, explain that you have lost faith in their reputation and the disappointment at finding out this kind of tactic is used by them, invite them to restore your faith.

So, phone TS and ask for advice, I was going nowhere with a B&Q (kitchen) until I asked for advice from TS. Ts were very helpful and it certainly made B&Q change tack with me. Definitely agree with Ben about the losing faith bit, loyal customer that you are they should fulfil the offer that they advertised.

Its only a set of phones for goodness sake! Take them back and get your money back and buy a different set. Ask to speak to the manager and explain that you have had to bring these back because of their misdescription thus costing you time and travel expenses. If you are nice about it but firm, you should either get a quad set of something else for the price you have paid or a gift voucher as a goodwill gesture for your inconvenience.

its all very well demanding a quad but i thought the first post said the woman on the phone say we dont do it in a quad?

i mean yes it is bad that she just fobbed you off without actually trying to help but thats what theyre like. thats why we get so many customers complaining in store-because AD and CS are no help at all and dont care since they dont have to actually face the customer (ovbiously with the odd exception-ive spoken to a couple of people who are really good and help a lot)

but yeah if we dont do it in a quad then theres not really much point in demanding it is there?

they should sort it so theres a bulletin on the till about it though or we're gunna hav £$%! loadsa people in having a go about it! great fun!

Something similar happened to me. Wasn't Argos but a shopping channel. Ordered triple phones with answer machine but just got the phones. When I rang to complain, I was fobbed off and told to look at their terms and conditions. If I wanted to return them, I would have to pay to send them back recorded delivery.

Wasn't happy with this response so I contacted Advertsing Standards Agency (on the internet) who (to my surprise) said it was a very serious matter. They investigated and suddenly I was inundated with phone calls from the shopping channel apologising and offering various forms of compensation.

So it may seem quite trivial but retailers are not allowed to mislead the public with incorrect descriptions of their products.

argos dont actuall care about that kinda thing, and it you return the item they will not give you a good will gesture - they only give (under extreme circumstances, unless your lucky AND kick off big time) 10% of the item value as a good will gesture.
no way will you get all that, no matter how much you demand

i used to work for them and from what i'v heard they've got stricter
