Been refused & credit card at same time!! help please

i split the £7500 into 3rds so 1/3rd for tax, 1/3 for rent and living petrol etc, 1/3 for savings.
I just cant understand why I have been refused the loan and credit car from nationwide?
I suppose the thing to do is sit and wait until the appeal for the loan comes through.0
