John Lewis 'Iris' Chairs

Hi, I bought six of these chairs a couple of years ago. They have been exposed to nothing other than average use yet the legs constanly splay, so we need to manually squeeze them back into position. I reckon we need to do this to each chair monthly. The nuts are getting harder to tighten too as the thread wears. Over Christmas one of the chairs 'splayed' so much while my brother was sitting on it that he ended up on the floor! John Lewis are stating the usual 'out of guarantee' defense, but I think these chairs could be dangerous. I'm guessing the constant re-shaping of the legs fatigues the metal, so ultimately the legs give way.
Just wondering if anybody has had a similar problem?
