Venue Reviews

Hi everyone!

Me and the DF have just started trying to organise our wedding, and I'm looking at venues near Edinburgh.

I've found a couple that look really nice, but me being me I've googled for reviews, and they all seem to have a really mixed bag!! I mean, this one, that I really like, has 5 reviews, 3 are "excellent", 2 are "terrible"!!!

Is this normal? We're probably going to go have a look anyway, and I know there's always some fussy whatsits knocking about, but I guess I just want our venue to be perfect :o

Thanks!!

Remember that some good reviews may have been made by the venue themselves, bad ones may have been made by customers or by their competitors. Rather than just relying on reviews on the internet - go and see the venues, talk to them, see what they can offer, how flexible are they etc.

I would go to Trip Advisor and look at the reviews, then look at the person posting that review, see how many other reviews they have done. One 'bad' review done by a poster who only has done that one, could just be a disgruntled person, likewise a 'good' review done by a poster who reviews loads of place can be someone who takes the time review properly!

I have just looked through the reviews myself, I did notice the poor ones, but they were posted a while back 2007-2008.

Anderson8 - I have looked at Bothwick Caslte, sadly unless my numbers come up on Saturday, its a bit out of our price range!

Frannyann - thats a good point, I never even looked to see when they were posted, or how many others they'd done.

So I'm probably going to have a look at those places this month, *crosses fingers*

Lol, I'm so new to this, I only found out the Wedding Breakfast was the same as the reception meal this week - I thought I'd have to feed everyone twice!:rotfl:

LOL - don't worry .......as we drove away from seeing our first venue (and last - we booked it!), my H2B says "i don't get it - i know people are probably going to stay in the hotel the night of the wedding, but why have we gotta pay for their brekkie?!"
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Lol, glad it's not just me! :D
