Gig Tickets and Postage

This really annoys me. When is £35 not £35?

When you want to see New Order at Wembley and all the agents seem to add £3.50 booking fee, then £4.80 postage.

Any ways around this?

Could you perhaps ask if you can pick the tickets up and not be charged? Otherwise I don't know I'm afraid. I know that for my local theatre if you say you pick up the tickets then you can save a couple of pounds.

    Any good for you?

    Hi Guinea

I did think of that. Not going my self because the £11 train fare would prove a bit of a false economy  but seeing if anyone else is going to be passing.

I feel doubly ripped off as I only want one ticket so am paying the same postage as if someone had 6 etc etc.

some cheekster is selling them as 'sold out' on ebay which they are clearly not - tsk

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
the MEN arena in Manchester lets you pick up tickets up to half an hour before the show starts (at least it did last time I went), so you could always just get there early!

you always have to pay for the booking fee... some places offer a cheaper p&p charge than others so shop around.

If you pay in cash at the venue's box office, you often avoid any kind of extra fees whatsoever.

Works with the Birmingham Academy anyway.
  • This SO annoys me...

Bought 3 tickets yday from TicketMaster here's the cost breakdown:

    full price ticket £15*3=£45
    convenience charge(?) £2.75*3=£8.25
secure post (std mail was not offered!) £4.95

giving a grand total of £58.20, that's and additional £13.20, nearly the cost of another ticket!

    what is convenience charge?

And much more often than not, Ticketmaster will not even send by special post. They often post by regular post therefore effectively making about £4.50.

Also when the Engalnd Germany Legends game was on, they didnt even send the tickets until after the event. When I said I need a refund for the £5 they said well they have posted them now so the money has been spent. Later about 4 days after the event I recieved the tickets by standard mail.

Ticketmaster are without doubt the biggest rip off merchants and they get away with it everywhere.

Ingenious some may call it, but in USA its even worse. They charge $8 for postage, $4 service for each ticket, and the you have to print off the tickets yourself, spending money on ink!!!

Thats purely rediculous!! I refuse to use it anymore and will buy tickets from everywhere else possible i.e driectly from arena, or via see or ticketweb. Unfortunately some bands will only use ticketmaster to see their tickets and there is no choice.

I completely agree....but there isn't much we can do is there! If we want to go, we have to pay the prices.

Just booked two tickets on-line for Mark Thomas at The Dancehouse Theatre, Manchester and they only charged an additional 50p for the postage....now that's more like it :D

ticketweb and ticketmaster are in fact, the same company. but for some bizarre reason, ticketweb is much cheaper, and is usually much quicker too.

its definitely worth shopping around, and always check google for the venues own site to see if you can buy direct from them.
