Can you freeze UHT milk? If you can, what's the best way of defrosting it? I have just found 4 cartoons of it in my cupboard with today's date on it
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

It'll last for months after it's date, which I suspect will be a "best before" rather than "use by"

I thought it might be best before penny - but wasnt sure as i dont use UHT. so to be on safe side i suggested a few weeks . am sure you are right though as i have seen them at reduced prices in local shop as date is up.
but as its packed in those cartons i m assuming it wont be safe to freeze as am unsure whether there is any room in them for expansion when milk is frozen. anyone know?0 -
It is a best before so I think you are correct in that it will be okay for a while yet. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questionWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Yes, I think there'll be room for expansionI don;t freeze whole unopened cartons, but when I use UHT to make yoghurt, I sometimes freeze what's left, and it freezes and defosts well

I don't freeze mine - well not the unopened ones. I keep the opened one in my fridge, plus one other unopened one so that can chill. When the opened finishes, I can use the chilled one and put another straight in iin it's place so that I always have a supply of cold milk!

My son likes to just drink it. Not keen on it in tea, but in an emergency it's fine. It's great for making yogurt as its very creamy. Also nice in milkshakes and great in cooking. Wish I had the forethought to buy some now!:rolleyes:Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
