I'll drop the Self-Assessment people a line, declare my rental property, income, expenses, etc etc and then I guess they can decide if I need to do a return.
I'm employed at the minute but might be unemployed in 6 weeks. Although I don't intend to sign on straight away as I'll be getting redundancy pay and will be asking them to give me tax back first! :rotfl::T

Hi again, I have another question on this. There is a box you have to tick if you "have income from property let jointly". My ex-husband's name is still on the mortgage but he has had nothing to do with the property since we split up - I carried on living there and paid the mortgage on my own, I still pay the mortgage on my own and pay any expenses regarding letting it and I receive all the rent. The mortgage company wouldn't let me take his name off because of arrears and that's the only reason he's still on it. Obviously he's not going to fill in a tax return regarding the property as he's not getting anything from it - we have agreed privately that the property is mine. Any ideas how I can get round this?

You're not letting it jointly so scottn sould be right.

BUT HMRC sometimes understand English in a different way. Try calling your tax office and see if it's something they can answer.
