Any floury potato is best. I prefer Roosters but when not on offer I always use Maris Pipers.

any potato that will bake or mash nicely! dont use waxy potatoes which are good as salad potatoes. my favourites are maris piper, king edward and desiree . I dont like estima or wilja as they seem to have a high water content and make the oil all frothy. they dont taste right either - I prefer to use mccain home fries or aldis golden fries if i cant get the right chipping potatoes. I have a brill deep fat fryer and even those darned oven chips taste better cooked in it!0
