Changing direct debit dates

Quick question guys if I may...
I'll put a proper post on tommorow, I have had my 'lightbulb' moment as it were. Im pretty sure I know what I need to do to sort myself out but I have two quick questions that I need to address pretty quickly before things get out of control. (hopefully they are quick anyway)
I need to change a direct debit date of my personal loan from Halifax to after payday (just a change of a few days). Does anyone know if they are likely to charge me for this?
I bank with Barclays and im over my overdraft limit, so they are charging me for using my 'reserve' (lucky me)... anyone got any experience of dealing with this and hopefully getting them to stop other than asking them to extend the overdraft?

I don't know whether they CAN charge you for changing the DD date, but they shouldn't. I've never been charged for changing direct debit dates and nobody (apart from NTL bizarrely) has told me that they can't move the direct debit date. It's probably quite a common request when you change jobs.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

My answer to them if they chse to charge me would be to tell them I am moving my account!
Seriously though I have not had problems with most organizations as long as the DD date is brought forward and not put back. IYSWIM

Shouldn't be a problem. I have moved dates back and forward with no issue - except with Orange!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

Thanks guys, i'll be calling them after work tonight.....
Amazes me how long ive managed to ignore my debt problems! If it wasnt such a bad thing i'd almost be proud.
Well at least its getting sorted now, plenty of inspiration available on this forum.Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
I have a Halifax personal loan & enquired about changing the DD date & was told that they can do it but you can only change it once. In the end I just left it as was but at no point did they mention any sort of charge for changing it0

I have changed the date on my Halifax loan previously and they did it with no charge. It can cost you some interest though depending on when you move it to, i.e. if you used to pay it on the 12th, and then on the 2nd move it to the 1st, you've effectively skipped a months payment, therefore the loan lasts longer, and the interest charge goes up.0

3 are playing funny !!!!!!s with me - its my only DD in middle of month, all others between 30th / 2nd.
Orange in the past allowed me to change DD dates after i cancelled the DD.0 -
