Reducing DMP payment

Hello everyone!!

Hasanyone experience of reducing there DMP payment to the CCCS. Wife and I are struggling I got a fine for parking ticket( yes i know my fault) also I have an accounts bills that needs paying (worth paying hes knocked off over £4000 the taxman said I owed!!!) Also, well they say things come in 3, I had bailiffs on phone it appears I also owe £1200 in unpaid council tax from several years ago. I thought it had been paid I was obviously wrong!

What I want to do is make token payment to credits for a couple of months then we can sort ourselves out and then get back on track I have alos applied for a seconf job to bring in more money we can add to our DMP.

Anyone any thoughts or suggestions.

As always thanks in anticipation of your help

Get on to CCCS and see what they say. Make sure you have all your figures to hand. Should be possible to reduce your payment for a while to get over this hurdle.

I agree with Nargleblast ring CCCS in the morning as they will need to see if the DMP is still suitable whilst your paying off the other ammounts. I' sure they'll be able to help you sort it all out. Good luck.

    Hi there

Council Tax is your priority debt, I am sure the CCCs will be able to help you out with your payment schedule.

    good luck

  • They did it for me. I had an unexpected tax bill of about £500 land on my doormat just before Christmas (thanks HMRC). All i did is call CCCS and let them know. They just said they would advise all my creditors and to pay what i could afford for that month.

in the same boat myself, first time in 5yrs im not going to have the money for the dmp payment this month.

i am self employed and havent had any work for 5 weeks and nothing booked it, even got through all last year without having to reduce my dmp. wifes income will just about cover sercured debts let alone cover my debts and support us and our 2yr old.

im very worried, worked for myself for 20yrs and never been like this before...

CCCS should quite OK to this because they will know first hand that council tax will not normally be included in any DMP because it is a priority debt .

When writing to the bailiff company with proposals you need to ENSURE that you make them aware that your circumstances are classed as "vulnerable' as you are in a DMP.

Sadly, the local authorities will nearly always insist that the bailiff agree to repayments ONLY on the basis that the debt is repaid within the current council tax year which is only 3 more months.

Have spoken to CCCS and they were brilliant. Have reduce payment to virtually nothing this month and redone budget to reduce figure for a few months to get us sorted. Fingers crossed credits agree and dont cause to much hassle!!
